1942 WLC

I try not to post pictures of bikes we build at work because they're mostly Harleys.  I'm not into Harleys and probably will never be. I do understand their importance in the evolution process, but I fail to believe today's overpriced HD image that's been turned into a massive marketing success, totally twisting the notion of what bikes are about.

This bike is proof of exactly that. Unbelievably badly built with mechanical solutions that brings tears to my eyes thinking of American soldiers depending on them them through battlefields and potholed roads. I take this bike as an example of the American industry back in the day and I cannot imagine (for the life of me) how the Germans lost the War against such poor machinery.

All in all, I think we did a good (aesthetical) job with it even if the boss chose to do his best "goldfinger".

South of England Show

As usual, the food's fit for a king

We left North London towards South London to the South of England Showground. It's was a nice drive through the country side and yes, it rained. Today, 7 of August of 2011 , 3 years after our first visit to the UK, history repeats. It rains. We went past 2 Spanish bikes near the Ace Cafe with plastic bags covering the panniers, reminding us of that journey. I bet they left Spain under 40ºC and didnt expect this.

All in all, it was nice to leave the city and see some green mixed with old bikes.

I hate selling bikes

"She turned away what was she lookin at?
She was a Sour Girl the day that she met me
Hey! What are you lookin at?
She was a happy girl when she left me

What would you do?
What would you do if I followed you?
What would you do I follow?

The roller coaster ride's a lonely one
I'd pay the ransom note to stop it from steaming
Hey! What are you looking at?
She was a teenage girl when she met me. . .

The girl got reasons, they all got reasons"

Nimbus at the Ace Cafe

The Nimbus was a Danish motorcycle produced from 1919 to 1960 by Fisker and Nielsen of Copenhagen, Denmark, also manufacturers of "Nilfisk" brand vacuum cleaners (now Nilfisk-Advance). Two basic models were produced, both with a 750 cc four cylinder engine way before Honda started doing the famous CB750 Fours wich "revolutionized" the motorcycle industry.
Very simple and sturdy design with mechanical solutions that are still used in today's motorcycles, this is a bike that does make you sit and stare at it for a long time.  The guy who owns it said to me:" I also have an Exile Hot Rod that's coming in a van to meet me here..."  Wonderful...
